The etched portrait is probably the most popular choice for a picture plaque. The etched photo plaque process allows for a photograph, line drawing, or complex artwork to be replicated and displayed for generations.
This etching process creates state-of-the-art plaques using a somewhat old time technology: newspaper printing. The image is recreated using a halftone dot pattern which means the image consists of thousands of little recessed dots filled in with black ink. The contrast of the ink against the brushed finish of the metal creates the portrait.
Photographs with high contrast such as bright white areas and stark black areas work best for halftone etching. Photos containing mostly subtle grey tones will work, but do not yield as crisp of images as high contrast. We require a high resolution image (at least 300 dpi).
The etched portrait is placed on a cast plaque with a recessed background and raised text. Ships in 10 business days after art approval, quickest turnaround for a picture plaque. A digital proof of your plaque will be emailed in 2 to 3 business days after the order is placed. Production will begin once the digital proof is approved by the customer. Finishes may vary from your screen due to monitor settings.
