Frequently Asked Questions
- How long does it take to receive a plaque?
- Most of our plaques are shipped within 8 to 12 business days after the order is paid for and the digital proof is approved by the customer. Some more custom plaques may take longer. Plaques with bas relief portraits take 6 to 8 weeks.
- Can the order be rushed?
- Production cannot be rushed on these high quality custom plaques. You can select expedited shipping and your plaque will be shipped accordingly once it is finished.
- Can plaques be returned?
- All plaques are made custom per order and therefore cannot be returned.
- How are the plaques priced?
- The plaques are priced on the height and width and not by the amount of text. Flat and simple clip art images are usually included in the price of the plaque. Different plaques have special finishes and other options that can be added to the base price.
- How do I pay for the plaque?
- We do require full payment before starting production on a plaque. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express as well as Paypal and checks. If you are not completely sure about your purchase, you can select the check/money order payment option and request a digital proof of the plaque before paying for it. When you are satisfied with the proof, you can pay by credit card, Paypal, or check. We will not start production until payment is receive.
- Can I cancel my order?
- If production has started on a plaque, it cannot be cancelled. If we are still in the digital proof approval process, an order can be cancelled.
- How much lettering can I fit on a plaque?
- The amount of lettering allowed will depend on the kind of plaque ordered. Architectural plaques require ¼” tall lettering if the text is all uppercase or 3/8” tall uppercase letters if the text is mixed case. Engraved and thin metal plaques can handle smaller text. Our customer service designer will be able to map out the plaque and advise if the text requested can fit on the size of the plaque ordered.
- Can I use my own font?
- Yes. We offer 6 common letter styles on our website, but a plaque can be made with just about any letter style. Choose the option “Custom Font” and then enter the name of the font in the custom font field.
- Can an image or photo be added to the plaque?
- Yes. Simple images that resemble logos or clip art can be reproduced on the plaque at no additional cost. Photos and complex artwork can be added in various ways, though chemical etching is the most common. Adding photos or complex artwork will cost an additional amount. High quality photos yield the best results.
- Will a digital proof of the plaque be sent?
- Yes, we email a digital proof of your plaque before beginning production, usually within 2 business days. This proof needs to be approved in order for us to start production on the plaque. Art revision requests can be made at no cost. We try to get the design right the first time, and hope to get all artwork finalized within 3 revisions.
- How many art revisions can be requested?
- We do not charge for art revisions. Our customer service staff is competent and adept with graphic design software and strives to get the plaque design perfect on the first try. Usually, plaque artwork can be finalized within 3 revision requests, but if it takes more than that to get the plaque right, we are more than happy to work with our customers as much as needed.
- Are the plaques outdoor rated?
- Yes. The great majority of our plaques are guaranteed for life in extreme conditions outdoors. We sell the highest quality plaques on the market.
- Which material will last the longest?
- All our plaques are guaranteed for life. Aluminum and polished Brass will degrade over a significant period of time if exposed to moderate UV rays and harsh chemical or excessive moisture contact.
- How are the plaques mounted?
- Blind mounting is the most common method of installing plaques. Depending on the thickness of the plaque, threaded aluminum studs can either screw directly into the back of the plaque or into welded stud bosses so the mounting hardware is not visible from the front. Plaques can also be mounted with screws through the face that in many cases are covered with decorative rosettes. Some plaques can be mounted to a garden stake or post for free standing outdoor applications.
